Vision
We are committed to delivering an ambitious, inclusive Early Years provision through play-based learning that is purposeful, language-rich and rooted in secure pedagogical practice. Communication and language form the curriculum’s foundation, with a focus on developing oracy and vocabulary through sustained shared thinking.
We prioritise personal, social and emotional development to build resilience and independence. The curriculum is knowledge-rich and carefully sequenced to create deep understanding across all learning areas. Jewish values are woven throughout, helping children develop identity and belonging.
How we teach in EYFS
Our teaching targets foundational skills across seven curriculum areas, including motor development, emotional regulation, self-care, literacy and phonics.
Nursery includes short daily carpet sessions covering phonics (Little Wandle), maths, topic and PSHE.
Reception features daily phonics lessons, maths instruction four times weekly and three handwriting sessions. Children access curriculum areas through a play-based and child-centred classroom environment, allowing them to consolidate learning.
Ensuring progress for all
Subject leads have designed progression grids ensuring clear advancement from Nursery through Year 6. Teachers use strategies such as cold-call and whole-class response, and partner talk during instruction.
We identify learning gaps through regular assessment and offer targeted interventions including LASSEY (communication), Tiger Cubs (motor skills) and phonics support. These interventions are regularly evaluated and adjusted.
