Vision
We aim to develop pupils into confident, considerate and responsible individuals grounded in Jewish values. Our PSHE curriculum emphasises emotional intelligence, self-awareness and resilience, helping students understand themselves and respect others.
Key focuses include:
- Mental health and wellbeing through informed choices about physical health
- Understanding bodily changes with confidence and empathy
- Celebrating diversity through exploration of cultures and religions
- Moral development guided by the principles of kindness, justice and respect
- Progressive skill-building from EYFS through Year 6
Teaching approach
PSHE lessons run 35 minutes weekly using varied methods: circle time, text discussions, scenario-based learning and role-play. The curriculum organises around four core units revisited annually:
- Understanding Self — emotional literacy and personal identity
- Health and Wellbeing — physical health and self-care habits
- Relationships and Respect — relationship types and age-appropriate RSE
- My Voice, My Choices — citizenship, decision-making and e-safety
Nine key concepts thread through all units, enabling progressive development.
Assessing progress
Teachers use pre-unit quizzes to identify prior knowledge and misconceptions. Lessons begin with retrieval tasks, while formative assessment, questioning and scenario-based activities monitor understanding throughout. Targeted support addresses gaps to ensure all pupils progress.
