Vision
We aim to foster a love of, and a connection to, Judaism within every pupil. Our programme supports each child’s development of Jewish identity through both explicit and implicit curriculum approaches, prioritising respect and inclusion regardless of background or level of religiosity.
Curriculum aims
- Making the subject meaningful through practical, experiential learning
- Equipping pupils with knowledge to lead a full Jewish life
- Building confidence in exploring personal spiritual relationships
- Developing exemplary character traits aligned with school values
- Cultivating community involvement in Jewish and broader civic life
Four curriculum strands
Jewish Living: Helps children discover their Jewish identity and understand the importance of Mitzvot (commandments), Middot (character traits) and ethical behaviour.
Jewish Knowledge: Develops essential competencies including Torah study skills, prayer proficiency, Hebrew reading and Modern Hebrew language abilities, spiritual awareness, understanding the Jewish calendar and life cycle events, and knowledge of Israel and Jewish communities worldwide.
Jewish Ethics, Values and Spirituality: Encourages students to embody Derech Eretz (righteous behaviour) and core values like Kavod (respect), Tzedakah (charity), Gemilut Chasadim (kindness) and Tikkun Olam (environmental stewardship).
Torah: Engages children with Torah as a living text through weekly portions and independent Chumash study.
Expected outcomes
Graduates develop a secure understanding of Jewish Studies content and social, moral, spiritual and cultural responsibility as Jewish British citizens.
